Tuscany - art
and culture |
The main cities of Art
and Art History are Florence, Siena, Pisa and Lucca. Every year, millions
of visitors are attracted to some of the most impressive and important museums
in the world for painting and sculpture – museums such as the Uffizi,
for example. People also come to see the incredible architecture of the
churches and market squares of places such as the Piazza della Signoria
in Florence and the Piazza del Campo a Siena. There are also lots of palaces
and exhibitions to visit. Some of the exhibitions, such as those at the
Palio of Siena and the Calcio Storico in Florence, pay special attention
to local history and traditions. Wherever you go in Tuscany, virtually over
ever hill there is a village with artistic attractions and genuine indigenous
cuisine waiting to be discovered. Sample the delights of villages such San
Gimignano, Volterra, Fiesole, Montalcino and many more - you’ll be
amazed.Tuscany has always been a destination for travellers from all over
Europe in search of the beauty and contemplations. To behold the gentle
and undulating pattern of its vine-covered hills, to take in the play of
tone and colour of a landscape covered by olive and cypress trees is a truly
wondrous experience. |

There are also the farmhouses - the
Italian "Agriturismo". And don’t forget the beach holidays
that have so much to offer every taste and inclination. In a fantastic natural
setting one can enjoy many different sports such as horse riding, trekking,
sailing, diving and many other water sports. |

Tuscany
is also a region rich in natural parks - on the land and at sea. Tuscany
is the region steeped in the culture and artistry of wine making and olive
pressing. All the villages host traditional festivals and feasts where one
can taste such local delicacies as the "Bruschetta", dishes with
wild boars, hare, the famous Florentinian steak and genuine sausages - real
culinary delights! All this complimented with a glass of the local wine,
such as Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, or vino Nobile di Montepulciano...
you’ll be amazed. |
